Grand Hyatt Tokyo is now offering an exclusive private cask single malt whisky at Maduro and The Oak Door. Distilled in the mountains of Hiroshima Prefecture, this exclusive run of 232 numbered bottles offers a memorable Japanese whisky experience at our bars in downtown Tokyo.

    Our private cask whisky is created by Sakurao Brewery and Distillery, using traditional techniques and innovative processes developed over their 100-year history.

    The whisky is matured in a former railway tunnel in the mountains of Togouchi, Akiota. The cool mountain breeze blowing through the tunnel infuses the whisky with natural aromas from the area’s lush forests and clear streams.

    In addition to its alluring golden color, Grand Hyatt Tokyo’s single malt whisky has a refined flavor profile that lends itself to multiple tastings. Beginning with an aroma of vanilla, apples, marmalade and melons, the whisky is light and smooth on the palate, building to a refreshing sweetness with a crisp aftertaste.

    Founded in 1918 in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, SAKURAO Brewery and Distillery Co., Ltd. uses distillation techniques that have been passed down through the generations for over a hundred years. In 2017, they expanded into whisky and spirits with the founding of SAKURAO DISTILLERY, which creates premium offerings inspired by traditional Japanese distilling techniques and philosophy.
